How to Choose and Buy Reliable Aerial Lifts?

When choosing the right kind of aerial lifts for your establishment there are quite a few important factors that need to be looked into. Since these types of lift operate mechanically and provide you with the kind of height you require to access objects so you need to be sure that you are buying from a reliable manufacturer.
Typically there are two kinds of aerial lifts. The first one is called slab lifts which can be used indoors and are seen to best work on smooth surfaces. The second type is call a rough terrain lift and is well suited for uneven ground. While the former runs on electric power and has rubber tires that does not leave a mark on the floor the latter one works on gas and/or diesel and the inflated tires help offer a firm grip.

These type of lift also come in a variety of designs and it is imperative for you to choose one that would suffice your requirements. Important factors that need to be looked into are the height of the object(s), the load, the vertical reach and the base, choice of power, and your own budget.
Boom lifts

These types of aerial lift have a bucket and/or stand at the end. They can reach great heights of nearly 100 feet and the lifting capacity is huge. You can either opt for a telescopic boom lift or a trailer mounted one.
Scissor lifts

Next comes the scissor lift that does not go very high as compared to the boom lift but still can reach a height of 50 feet. A typical scissor lift has a large operation or workspace area which can lift quite a few people along with heavy equipment. Even the platform can be extended for more reach.
Safety comes first

As you would know that lifts carry people and expensive equipment this is why it is essential to have safety features installed along with safety measures to protect you or your workers from any injury or damage. While buying a lift do try to see if the lift has the following safety features installed:

- Level indicators or warning lamps to ensure that the base is proper and the lift can be placed on top of it
- Measures to keep track of high speed and to slow down the lift as and when necessary
- Proper straps and protective rods
- A manual descent valve so that the lift can be lowered in case of power outage
- A proper LCD display that can offer information and diagnostics for safe operations
Whenever you do go out looking for aerial lifts, try to take references from others or look for reviews online. Always assess your requirements and then make a decision on the kind of lift you would want to go for.

The Correct Way of Using a Boom Lift

Boom lift has become an important machine for a lot of industries to carry out various tasks. These lifts make workers work conveniently and safely which ultimately enhances their efficiency and reduces the duration of the task. But these lifts should be operated very carefully. Operated wrongly, they may lead to some very serious accidents. Let's see what the correct way to operate them is.

It's very important to conduct a pre-use inspection of these lifts. Have a walk around it for a visual inspection. Check that there isn't any fluid or oil leak. See that the tires are inflated to proper levels. Then start to lift and bring input controls to the base. Operate the lift to ensure smooth functioning of all the functions.

Don't forget to wear your safety harness before getting into the basket. Then clip the harness to the basket properly. Then lower the safety switch to turn on the platform controls. Then set the function switch to "drive" mode. Move the lift forward and reverse to check any problems with the movement of the lift. Make sure that the wheels are turning left and right without any problems.

Then come to the inspection of the boom arm. Examine it carefully to make sure that it raises, lowers, extends and retracts properly. After making sure that the boom arm is working perfectly, turn the lift off. Then unhook the lanyard and come out of the basket. Have a look at the work area to make sure that there is nothing to be addressed before starting the work. Being satisfied with all the things, take the lift to the work area.

Try to position the lift to reach the work area as close as possible. At first, extend that boom arm which is attached to the basket. Then adjust the second boom arm to reach even closer to the work area. Then you need to elevate the articulated boom. Adjusting the boom lift in this order ensures its stability which makes the work swifter, safer and more convenient.

When your work is completed, turn off the lift and lower all the boom arms to the locked position. Start with the arm closest to the ground and through the one attached to the basket. Lower the basket to the extent that it allows you to come out of the basket conveniently. Then switch off the lift and take out the keys from the ignition. Follow this procedure every time you have to work with the boom lifts and minimize the possibility of any mishaps. For more information Click Here
